Course Content and Learning Objectives
Supervision provides opportunities for professional growth for supervisor and supervise, alike. The most rewarding supervision experiences have forethought and planning as a part of each encounter, so that learning opportunities are maximized. In this training, participants will have an opportunity to develop and present their plan for supervision, create their supervision policies, procedures, and documents, and identify important supervision agenda items to add structure to the supervision process. Participants will also be provided with scenarios to troubleshoot using their supervision style, plan, and approach. This training is highly interactive and requires that all participants give and receive feedback to one another in order to share ideas, consider multiple perspectives, and strengthen their individual plans for supervision.
- Participants will develop a plan for supervision that incorporates an identified model of supervision as a framework.
- Participants will create supervision documents that outline their process of supervision and provides structure of their supervisees.
- Participants will apply different approaches and perspectives to managing conflict and crisis in challenging supervision encounters.
CE Hours
Completion of the full course provides 6 NBCC/LPCAGA approved CE hours. This course satisfies training requirements for new CPCS certification.

Lynell A. Howard, PhD, LPC, NCC, CPCS
Dr. Lynell Howard is a Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, and Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor who has been in practice over 20 years. Dr. Howard has earned a Master’s degree in clinical psychology and Doctorate in organizational psychology. She holds licenses as a professional counselor in Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas and has been a practicing consultant and clinician in various settings. Aside from her work as a mental health clinician, Dr. Howard provides professional training, counseling, and support for professional organizations across the US, Europe, and Asia.
