Somatic Regulation in Clinical Practice: Addressing the Physiology of Trauma and Anxiety- 4 CEs August 15, 2026
$60.00
Course Description
Traditional talk therapies provide crucial cognitive insights, but traumatic stress and chronic anxiety frequently bypass the rational brain, locking clients into distressing physical states of hyperarousal or dissociation. To bridge the gap between mental insight and physical relief, clinicians must understand how to access and regulate the autonomic nervous system from the bottom up.
This training explores the neurobiology of the stress response system and equips mental health professionals with actionable, body-based interventions. Participants will look beyond cognitive symptoms to examine how trauma and anxiety manifest somatically. You will learn to track nervous system states, utilize structural grounding techniques, and implement practical somatic tools that help clients discharge survival energy, widen their window of tolerance, and restore a sustainable sense of internal safety.
Learning Objectives
By the conclusion of this training, participants will be able to:
-
Analyze the neurobiological mechanisms through which trauma and chronic anxiety alter autonomic nervous system functioning and physiological stress responses.
-
Identify and assess common somatic trauma responses in session, evaluating their direct impact on a client’s capacity for emotional regulation.
-
Formulate and Implement practical, evidence-informed somatic interventions within a therapeutic framework to support autonomic nervous system regulation and client stabilization.
CE Hours
Completion of the full course provides 4 NBCC approved CE hours.
