When Emotions Feel Overwhelming: Understanding Borderline Personality Disorder- 4 CEs August 29, 2026
$60.00
Course Description
While traditional cognitive interventions offer valuable insights, Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is fundamentally driven by deep-seated emotional dysregulation, chronic developmental trauma, and sensitive nervous system hyper-reactivity. This clinically advanced training shifts the therapeutic lens from behavioral stigma to trauma-informed comprehension.
Participants will explore how developmental trauma, invalidating environments, and early attachment disruptions alter neurobiology and produce the classic symptoms of BPD. Moving beyond basic diagnostics, this course equips mental health practitioners with robust, evidence-based skills—with a core focus on integrating Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) principles. You will learn actionable strategies to foster emotional regulation, stabilize volatile interpersonal dynamics, and confidently manage high-risk behaviors while preserving a compassionate therapeutic alliance.
Learning Objectives
By the conclusion of this training, participants will be able to:
Deconstruct the core DSM-5-TR diagnostic criteria for Borderline Personality Disorder, translating clinical symptoms into functional, trauma-informed survival strategies.
Analyze the developmental and neurobiological pathways of BPD, examining how attachment trauma and physiological stress responses impair a client’s capacity for emotional regulation.
Formulate and Implement evidence-informed DBT interventions (including distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness) to stabilize high-risk behaviors and enhance relational cohesion in session.
CE Hours
Completion of the full course provides 4 NBCC approved CE hours.
Registration Requirements
Participants may register for this training directly on the Zoom Platform up until the date of the training. A link with join information is provided.
